On the front and back covers, we’ve reproduced the original inspirations for the 36 coloring pages in this book. You can find the name of the artwork and its artist before each image, on the “blank” pages we’ve left between the coloring pages (so you don’t have to worry about your markers bleeding through). Instead of leaving the divider pages literally blank, we’ve put the credits there (in very light ink).

Coloring snow scenes is not as strange as it might first seem. There are hundreds of distinct shades of white — and snow, indeed, does not always even look white. It plays with light in a thousand fascinating ways, as the artists whose works inspired these coloring pages knew and were themselves inspired by. And of course there’s dirty snow….

You may find, too, that adding a touch or two of color to a snowy scene can bring it to life in an especially satisfying way, whether it’s the golden feathers of a bird, a red kerchief, or the blue shadows of towering pines.
